I hope that yesterday’s statement made by the VMRO-DPMNE leader and Prime Minister-designate of the new government Hristijan Mickoski, on the revision of the contract with Bechtel-Enka was given in accordance with our commitment to the continuity of the legal agreements concluded by the previous government and if it is about improvement in the interest of business, we will support it, said the Economic Chamber president Branko Azeski on Saturday.

Asked by reporters after the working meeting with the management of Macedonia 2025, Azeski informed that the Bechtel-Enka company that won the contract for the construction of the Kichevo-Ohrid highway with a controversial agreement with the former government led by SDSM and DUI, are new members of the Economic Chamber.

“There are two options for the contract with Bechtel-Enka. One is to terminate the contract and go to arbitration, to pay hundreds of millions of euros and not have a highway, and the second is to optimize the contract for which we already have initial talks, which would speed up and realize the project. We are more in favor of a pragmatic approach, for the citizens to get a highway, but optimized, but the way it is, signed by this government, unfortunately, is to a certain extent inapplicable due to the big legal problems, problems with expropriation and technical problems. My message is that as a future government, we want to build, not tear down,” Mickoski said.
