Newly elected Macedonian Parliament Speaker Afrim Gashi offered an explanation on Friday regarding the statement allegedly given to a Kosovo media that his homeland was Kosovo.
“I want to clarify that Afrim Gashi was born in Skopje, where he lives and works with his family, and his homeland is North Macedonia,” said Afrim Gashi in a Facebook post.
The Speaker added that his correct statement in the interview was that “Kosovo is the birthplace or homeland of his parents and that he respects it as such for their sake.”
Prime Minister-designate Hristijan Mickoski stressed that if Gashi really declared that his homeland was Kosovo, he should apologize to the citizens.
