As of Wednesday, smaller interventions that last a shorter time have been started and so far no problem has been observed in terms of awakening and postoperative treatment of patients, said urologist surgeon Bashkim Shabani regarding the issue with compressed air and oxygen that closed the operating rooms (ORs) of the Mother Teresa clinic center.
After three weeks we are returning to some kind of normality, on Wednesday we started with several surgical interventions, we will see how it will be further, said Shabani.
According to the doctor, the waiting list will get lengthier due to the upcoming vacations.
“There are currently around 50-60 patients on the waiting list. I, as a surgeon, have three or four operations, the whole Urology clinic specifically has about 40 operations per week. The healthcare system in Macedonia, unfortunately, is centralized and most of the surgical interventions are done in Skopje,” Shabani pointed out.
