The Albanian Statistics Agency made a correction one day after the announcement of the results, and instead of “northmacedonians” the census column now reads “Macedonians”.

The change comes after the reaction of the Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the communication of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Timcho Mucunski with his Albanian counterpart Igli Hasani.

“Colleague Hasani informed me that it was a technical error. I am grateful for the hasty intervention,” Mucunski told Kanal 5 TV.

On Saturday, the Macedonian MFA sent a sharp reaction to the term used, as well as an assessment that the results of the census in Albania do not adequately reflect the real number of ethnic Macedonians in the country.
