The average grade from the June matriculation exam is 3.66 from all three types of matriculation exams – state matriculation, state vocational matriculation and state artistic matriculation, which were introduced for the first time this year.
Two months after taking the first of the two external exams, Macedonian Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska and the State Examination Center director Daniela Jovchevska-Mihajlovska announced the results at a press conference, which are final and after complaints have been submitted and reviewed. More than 14,500 students who completed secondary education in the 2025/2026 school year were registered to take the external exams (the mandatory mother tongue and another subject from the ones offered for selection) from the matriculation exam in the June exam session. They took the tests on June 6 and 11, respectively 12.
The average grade for the state matriculation exam is 3.62, for the vocational 3.91 and for the artistic 3.59. Janevska and Jovchevska-Mihajlovska are satisfied with the average and that the continuity from last year has been maintained, when the grade was 3.69, unlike 2024 when it was 3.26.
Out of a total of 14,587 students registered to take the matriculation exam, 12,184 were registered to take the state matriculation exam, 2,276 students for the state vocational matriculation exam and 127 registered for the state artistic matriculation exam. 348 applicants did not attend the exam, or 2.39 percent were absent from the exams.
Minister Janevska also pointed out that this year there were no copywriters like there were two years ago. 226 students had their test canceled and will take it again in August. Some were caught cheating during the exam, and some were found to have cheated after their tests were reviewed.
