Country marks 83 years since deportation of 7,144 Macedonian Jews

Parliament delegations will lay fresh flowers at monuments in Shtip, Bitola and Skopje on the 83rd anniversary of the deportation of 7,144 Macedonian Jews to the Treblinka concentration camp, the Macedonian Parliament informed Monday.

The delegation, consisting of Nikola Micevski, Dushko Ivanov and Blagoj Bochvarski, will lay flowers at the Monument to the Deported Jews from Shtip Monday at 11 a.m.

On Tuesday, a parliamentary delegation led by the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Vesna Bendevska will lay flowers at the Monument to the Victims of the Holocaust Kamena Menora and the Monument to Estreja Ovadija-Mara.

On Wednesday, a delegation consisting of Ljupcho Prendzhov, Dafina Stojanoska and Daniela Nikolova will lay flowers at the Monument to 7144 deported Macedonian Jews at the Tutunski Kombinat – Monopol, as well as at the Monument to the deported Jews and the fallen fighters in the National Liberation War at the Jewish Cemetery – Butel City Cemetery.
