Croatia will continue to support North Macedonia on the path towards European Union membership. We believe that the country deserves a clear EU perspective, says Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković after Wednesday’s meeting with counterpart Hristijan Mickoski in Brussels.

Plenković said in a social media post that he and Mickoski exchanged views on current global developments.

“I am pleased to have met with the Prime Minister of Macedonia in Brussels. We exchanged views on geopolitical challenges, the security of energy supply in Southeast Europe, as well as on the measures taken by both governments to combat the rise in energy prices. Croatia will continue to support Macedonia on its path to membership in the European Union. We believe that Macedonia deserves a clear EU perspective,” reads Plenković’s X post.

He and Mickoski are taking part in the 50th anniversary of the founding of the European People’s Party (EPP) in Brussels.

PM Mickoski informed Wednesday about the meeting with his Croatian counterpart, emphasizing that the current challenges in Europe, regional cooperation and the European perspective were the focus of their talks.

“Participants in the meeting exchanged views on current challenges in Europe, regional cooperation and the European perspective, with particular emphasis on promoting bilateral relations and partnership within the European family,” said Mickoski.
