The Parliament’s Committee on Social Policy, Demography and Youth forwarded the bill on Amendments to the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance for further procedure in Parliament.
The amendments, following a fast-track procedure, propose an increase in all pensions by MKD 1,000 from March 1 this year.
MP Angelinka Petkova from the ranks of VMRO-DPMNE pointed out that this is the fourth amendment to the law, for pensioners to receive an increase of MKD 7,000 in less than two years.
“These legal amendments provide for the fourth increase in all pensions by MKD 1,000 for all pensioners who have exercised their right to a pension by 28 February 2026, to receive an additional MKD 1,000 starting from 1 March. With these legal amendments, the Government of the Republic of Macedonia has achieved its strategic goal of improving the standard of all pensioners and this benefit of MKD 7,000, a total increase in pensions, will be felt by over 320,000 pensioners,” said Petkova.
