Following Wednesday’s information about the poisoning of a large number of workers at TPP REK Bitola, i.e. after a telephone report, the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) inspected the kitchen of the REK Bitola food supplier and closed it. The kitchen must not be used until the proper findings from the laboratory tests are received.
The inspection was carried out jointly with the Bitola-based PHI Center for Public Health, the Skopje Institute of Public Health and inspectors of the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate.
Food samples and swabs from work surfaces, hands and noses of employees found in the kitchen were taken.
The kitchen must not be used and extraordinary cleaning and disinfection must be carried out.
“In line with the National Protocol for Action in Case of Suspicion of Foodborne Infections and Intoxication, the food operator’s kitchen has been temporarily closed, i.e., a ban has been imposed on the preparation and serving of food from it, until the inspection procedure is completed and proper findings from the laboratory tests of the samples and swabs taken,” the FVA pointed out.
