Secretary General of the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) Aleksandar Sasha Dimitrijevikj announced at a press conference Thursday that SDSM has filed criminal charges against the National Bank Governor TrajkoSlaveski. Dimitrijevikj pointed out that the criminal charges were filed due to a well-founded suspicion of a crime – negligent performance of duties, under Article 353 c of the Criminal Code.

As Dimitrijevikj elaborated, Slaveski, with his actions, grossly violated legal obligations and called into question the legality of the operations of the National Bank, causing damage to the institution and the legal order.

“First, the legal deadline for proposing vice governors has been breached, which directly threatens the legal functioning of the National Bank. Second, there are serious indications that after the expiration of their mandates, individuals were paid wages for functions they were no longer allowed to perform. Third, these individuals continued to make decisions in the National Bank Council even after the expiration of the deadlines, which makes those decisions legally disputable and null and void,” said Dimitrijevikj.
