Macedonia will be the first country in the region that will meet the commitment to scrapping additional roaming charges in the EU, Macedonian Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski has said in a TV interview.
The minister told TV21 that citizens will not pay extra for calls, messages and internet while traveling in European Union countries.
“As for roaming, I promised that we will be the first country to meet all requirements. That means citizens will not pay extra when they are in the EU. We want to replicate the Balkan roaming model for the EU. We have completed our work, sent the text to the EU for an opinion and will vote on it in the Parliament,” Andonovski said.
The minister added that two weeks ago they received new questions from the European Union, but that the plan remains unchanged and the country is ready to finalize the legislation to abolish roaming costs.
