A salary of 12,000 to 20,000 is acceptable to more than half of women in the country. Data from the State Statistical Office released on the occasion of International Women’s Day – March 8, show that for most women 34.7 percent of eligible wages are from 16,000 to 20,000 denars, up 32.3 percent from 12,001 to 16,000 denars, for 21 , 7 percent is from 20,000 to 30,000 denars. For a salary of up to 8,000 denars, only one percent would work, for a salary of 30,000 to 40,000, 1.7 percent and 0.3 percent of women would accept work for a monthly salary of over 40,000.
The data shows that in rural areas 22.4 percent of employed women are unpaid family workers, 81 percent of the main source of livelihood for unemployed and inactive women is the salary or pension of household members, and 3.6 percent of women in the urban areas are employers.
