The European road speed control campaign starts from April 13 to 19. The Macedonian Traffic Police, as a member of the European Roads Policing Network ROADPOL, joins the action control campaign with increased controls for driving above the permitted speed limit.
Wednesday, April 15 at midnight to Thursday, April 16 midnight, will be a 24-hour Speed Marathon, during which there will be continuous speed control campaigns throughout the country.
“Speeding remains one of the leading causes of traffic accidents with serious and fatal consequences on our roads. That is why we must act constantly. With the implementation of the “Safe City” project and continuous traffic action controls, awareness of the dangers of speeding is increased, a change in the behavior of drivers is encouraged in the long term, and lives are saved,” said the Macedonian Ministry of Interior (MoI).
Many of the locations of the action controls are known to drivers in advance in order to strengthen the preventive nature of the actions. The goal is not punishment, the goal is traffic within the marked speed limits, traffic that saves lives, adds the release.
