Macedonian Prime Minister HristijanMickoskidoesn’t expect any changesin the country’s relations with Hungary afterTisza led by Péter Magyar won the country’s parliamentary elections on Sunday.

“If you ask me whether I expect a change in relations – no, I absolutely do not,” said PMMickoskiTuesday after the event marking the Customs Administration Day.

The Prime Minister congratulated the newly elected Hungarian Prime Minister Magyar, from whom, as he said, expects European policies and uncompromising support in Macedonia’s EUaccession process.

Responding to reporters’ questions, Mickoski pointed out that the Government had exceptionally close and direct cooperation with the previous Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, but that the will of the Hungarian people was clear.

“However, the will of the citizens of Hungary is clear and unambiguous, and thus Mr. Magyar has received the support of the Hungarian citizens. I expect the policies he will lead to be European, integrative, and I expect uncompromising support for the accession of the region, including our country within the EU,” Mickoski said.

Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade TimchoMucunski also congratulated PéterMagyar on his victory in the elections in Hungary.

“Congratulations to Péter Magyar on the election results. The citizens of Hungary have spoken, and there is nothing more important than the democratic will of the people. We value the strong bilateral relations built over the years and look forward to continuing our cooperation-grounded in mutual respect, partnership, and our shared European future”, reads FM Mucunski’s X post.
