The Hospitality and Tourism Union (HTU) urges all workers who intend to go on seasonal work abroad to be careful when choosing employment agencies.
“There are a lot of ads on social media that are most often published by the so-called “one-man agencies”, which seem to offer “dream work”, but in reality this is not the case at all, as confirmed by the seasonal workers who went to work through these “agencies”. They deliberately write huge amounts of wages, which in reality are not that much,” warns the union.
“What is even more tragic, that with the “huge salaries” they list, they say that they will work from 8 to 10 hours, for which they will be paid extra. In reality, this is not true at all. Experience shows that workers work 12 to 14 hours a day, and the extra hours are not compensated,” added the union.
