If Bulgaria does not give the green light for the start of negotiations for North Macedonia’s membership in the European Union, it will result in a slowdown in the development of the region, which will in no way benefit Sofia’s international image, said Bulgarian MEP lhan Kyuchyuk. The conference “Liberals for the Future of Europe – From Conference to European Reform” was held in the Bulgarian capital.
Kyuchyuk stressed that the EU expects Sofia to give the green light to start negotiations on the country’s membership in the European Union, adding that there is no way to explain to future generations in Bulgaria that Albania can start the negotiation process, and to “those who “We define as brothers and we have a legitimate reason to be historically very close, we deprive them of the opportunity to be part of the EU”.
