World Bank grant to be used for construction of ‘REK Bitola 1’ gas power plant

AD ESM CEO Lazo Uzunchev announced that the company will receive a grant from the World Bank next week for the construction of the mining-energy complex ‘REK Bitola 1’ gas power plant, for which it plans to consume the planned quantities of gas from the Alexandroupolis terminal.

“In AD ESM, we have been working full steam ahead on the development of projects for the construction of combined cycle gas power plants. This is our response to global demands for energy transformation and the plan with which we will gradually replace coal. I can announce that next week the company will sign a grant with the World Bank in the amount of USD 2.4 million. These funds are intended directly for the project for the’ REK Bitola 1’ gas power plant, which will be built within the scope of the existing Bitola thermal power plants,” Uzunchev told the media.

The ESM head pointed out that the funds from the grant will be fully directed towards complete and detailed preparation through the preparation of the necessary studies, project preparation and preparation of the tender documentation for the construction of the new gas power plant ‘REK Bitola 1’.
