Ways to increase economic cooperation and trade between Macedonia and Türkiye, advance bilateral ties and create new opportunities for cooperation and investments were discussed by Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski with Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat and Turkish Minister of Transport Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.

The meeting was held within the Macedonian-Turkish Business Forum being held Friday in Istanbul.

The meeting confirmed the joint efforts of the two countries to deepen economic ties, and discussed specific steps that will contribute to increasing trade, encouraging investments and improving the business climate for companies from both countries.

“Türkiye is one of the most important economic and trade partners of Macedonia, the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries are the foundation on which economic cooperation is successfully developing. In the spirit of this partnership, the goal is to raise relations to an even higher level, through new initiatives and increased economic activity,” noted Deputy Prime Minister Nikoloski.

A special focus of the meeting was placed on the development of infrastructure and regional connectivity, while the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the most extensive investment cycle in the construction and modernization of the entire infrastructure is being implemented in Macedonia and called on all interested Turkish companies to participate in the international calls.

“A large number of successful Turkish companies are already operating on the Macedonian market and are making a significant contribution to the development of the economy, opening new jobs and increasing competitiveness. It is precisely such positive experiences that represent an additional incentive for attracting new investors,” said Nikoloski.

The interlocutors agreed that Macedonia and Türkiye will continue to build a strong partnership based on mutual trust, friendship and a common vision for economic development and greater regional cooperation.
