Nineteen-year-old Sait Saitov has been extradited by Serbian authorities to Macedonia, and was wanted for a fatal traffic accident on Naroden Front Street in Skopje in January 2026, in which pedestrian Ljuba Jakovleska lost her life.

The suspect was being sought on the basis of an international arrest warrant issued by the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO).

As reported in January, a couple helped Sait Saitov, the teenager who ran over a woman in Kapishtec, Skopje, to escape to neighboring Serbia. The Public Prosecutor’s Office announced at the time that it had filed charges against a man and a woman who are accused of being co-perpetrators in the crime.

Immediately after the traffic accident on January 9, the couple came to Saitov’s home. They picked him and his father up and took them to Serbia through the Tabanovce border crossing. They dropped them off and returned to Macedonia around midnight.

According to the official information published so far, on January 9, the suspect was driving a Volkswagen Passat passenger vehicle along Naroden Front Street, without a valid driver’s license and at a speed that was not adjusted to the road and traffic conditions. When he improperly moved to the left, he entered the oncoming lane and hit pedestrian Ljuba Jakovleska, who was crossing the street.

As a result of the impact, the woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Emergency Center, where she later died. Instead of providing assistance, the driver fled the scene of the accident and left the country.
