PM Mickoski: They are blocking the Electoral Code on which we negotiated for months, we accepted everything they proposed

Macedonian Prime Minister HristijanMickoski commented in a social media postregarding the adoption of the Electoral Code and the opposition’s announcement that it plans to block it.

“Those who stole, sold out and humiliated Macedonia are now fighting to block it. They are scared that, after the December report, now and in the June report of the European Commission on the progress of the Western Balkan countries, we will be the best again. But I have bad news for them and their coalition left partners – Macedonia will defeat you and your blockades,” said Mickoski.

The PM and leader of the ruling VMRO-DPMNE points out that the opposition is now blocking the adoption of the law that was negotiated for a long period and for which the Government accepted all the proposals from the opposition parties.

“The only thing we asked for is that the diaspora be able to vote electronically in the next presidential elections. First they accepted it, and today they are blocking it and looking for weak alibi arguments.

Why don’t you do this then: propose amendments requesting corrections to the method of rounding and submitting objections. We will accept them immediately. Withdraw the other amendments and let’s vote on the Electoral Code,” PM Mickoski underlined.

The Macedonian PM believes that the diaspora has the right to participate electronically in the next presidential elections and tells the opposition that there is a chance “this time to truly and substantially be in favor ofMacedonia’s European future, not by changing the Constitution, but by reforms.”
