The heavy rainfall that hit Kumanovo Wednesday afternoon caused flooding of basements and water ingress into residential and business buildings in several locations in the city. The competent services inform that the interventions have been completed, the situation has stabilized. In the Municipality of Kumanovo, several reports of flooded basements and water ingress into buildings were recorded, causing material damage.
According to information from the Regional Crisis Management Center (CMC) in Kumanovo, basements of family buildings and shops were flooded. Among the reports are family buildings on the streets Mosha Pijade, Bajram Shabani and October Revolution boulevard, near Tutunska Banka. On the Treta MUB boulevard, water of about one meter intruded into the basement rooms, while water also entered buildings on the Veselin Maslesha, Goce Delchev and 11 Oktomvri streets. Teams from the Kumanovo Territorial Fire Department, PE Hygiene and Greenery, PE Water Supply and Sewage, TPPE Kumanovo, and EVN intervened in the cleanup. The teams pumped out the water, cleaned the affected locations and took measures to normalize the situation. The municipal services announced that there are currently no active flooded locations and that the situation has stabilized, but the authorities are still monitoring the situation.
Immediately after the intensity of the rainfall decreased, the work of clearing the gravel and sand deposits from the streets, as well as cleaning the manholes and canals, began.
