Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told the media on Thursday he expects the water in Gostivar to be approved for technical use by the end of the week, and to be safe for drinking by the end of the next week, if all activities are carried out according to plan.

Responding to a reporter’s question at the launch of the reconstructed city pool in Kavadarci, PM Mickoski stated that teams from the Skopje PE Water Supply and Sewerage and experts are involved in solving the problem.

“If everything goes as planned, since teams from the Skopje PE Water Supply and experts have been involved, I expect that by the end of this week we will have safe technical water in Gostivar. Now we need to start completely washing the system so that we can obtain water that will have normal chlorine levels and that will be good for technical use. The plan is for the water to be safe for drinking by the end of next week,” Mickoski said.

The PM points out that the authorities are continuing with their activities in the field, assessing that the situation in the municipality presents an additional challenge.

“We are working there too, unfortunately, the lethargy that has gripped the municipality after this case presents a challenge for all of us, but it is what it is. Although it is not the Government’s competence, we, the Government, will do everything in our power to get the system up and running as soon as possible,” Mickoski noted.
