The water in Gostivar will be fit for drinking once three consecutive samples test negative, Macedonian Minister of Health Sasho Klekovski told reporters on Tuesday.
“There is a classification of water from the first to the fifth category. Water from the first category is suitable for personal use without treatment, while in the fifth category, with no treatment, you cannot make it suitable for any use, including for irrigation in agriculture. According to hygiene experts, water for use is that which can be consumed, that is, introduced into the digestive tract, including through food, such as washing salads, and non-thermal processing of food poses a risk. Everything beyond that can be used for personal hygiene and other purposes,” said Minister Klekovski in response to a reporter’s question after a press conference on the current epidemiological situation.
