We are not contemplating an increase of the electricity price but looking for a formula to reduce it, unlike most European countries, Macedonian Prime Minister HristijanMickoski told reporters Thursday.
Responding to media questions, Mickoski stresses that Macedonia is successfully facing challenges, such as the war in the Gulf and the current situation with the level of the Danube River, which are putting pressure on the electricity price.
The PM says that the policy of this government is not to despair and hold panicked press conferences, but to work quietly, with small steps but successfully, and all this to add value to the citizens’ quality of life.
“Our accumulations at this moment, at the end of the irrigation season, are around 70 percent and we have almost 500 gigawatt-hours of accumulated electricity, quite enough to feel safe, comfortable and not have a challenge in terms of supplying electricity to citizens and industry. And we will not hold panic press conferences, we will not call for caution in saving because we took care long before that this would not happen. I am truly happy and satisfied that we spent the irrigation season as we planned, and yet, at this time of the month, August 6, we have over 70 percent of the accumulations full and ready for the hydroelectric power plants to produce electricity,” PMMickoskinoted.
