The Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) said Wednesday that it has opened a case on a tip-off to verify information about the massive pollution of nature with waste in the protected area near the Rashche springs.
“A competent public prosecutor will coordinate the activities of the State Environmental Inspectorate and the competent inspection services in order to carry out checks regarding the origin of the landfill, as well as the possible consequences.
If elements of a crime against the environment are determined and perpetrators identified, the public prosecutor’s office will act in accordance with its jurisdiction for criminal prosecution,” reads the PPO’s press release.
