Water from the water supply has not been unsafe for drinking for the past 3 days in Sveti Nikole. Sveti Nikole Mayor Dejan Vladev said that microbiological deviations were found in the water from the water supply system, which is why cisterns with water for cooking and drinking have been provided.

“During regular weekly controls at two measuring points throughout the city’s water supply network, despite the determined presence of residual chlorine of 0.4 mg/l, which is the main indicator for safe drinking water, microbiological deviations were also detected. This concerns a sample taken from a tap in an open area in a public facility, which is directly next to the site of the defect, which is currently being repaired, and another sample taken from the internal water supply network of a commercial facility,” said the Sveti Nikole PE Water Supply, which was shared by Mayor Vladev.

On August 10, 2026, control samples were taken for additional analysis with the Veles Public Health Center. The Sveti Nikole PE Water Supply is in coordination with the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) for further action in accordance with the results of the analysis and assessment of the situation. Drinking water was provided from a tanker for the needs of citizens on 10 and 11 August.

Previously, the Sveti Nikole Sveti Nikole PE Water Supply informed citizens that on August 11, 2026, due to a defect in the main pipeline system, there will be an interruption in the water supply as of 7 a.m.
