SDSM supports televisions, institutions to investigate suspicions on Euronews and “Alo”

The opposition party links this to a broader political thesis of strengthening influence related to the ruling structure in Serbia and the concept of the so-called “Serbian world”

The opposition SDSM says that it fully supports the requests of the national televisions and the public service, which, according to the party, warned of suspicions about the entry of Serbian media structures into Macedonia and asked the competent institutions to act.

Party spokesperson and member of SDSM’s Executive Board Bogdanka Kuzeska assesses that the case must be fully investigated and possible responsibility determined. SDSM claims that the events are confirmation of their previous warnings about growing political and media influence from Serbia.

The party specifically mentions Euronews and “Alo”, claiming that their entry into the Macedonian media market is being prepared in a way that, according to SDSM, raises suspicions of circumventing the laws.

Kuzeska also referred to warnings from national televisions and the Macedonian Media Association, which she said had material evidence that certain channels had been operating for a long time without a domestic license.

According to SDSM, the same model is now being prepared with Euronews Macedonia and the entry of the “Alo” group.

The opposition party links this to a broader political thesis of strengthening influence related to the ruling structure in Serbia and the concept of the so-called “Serbian world”.
