Forty-nine new utility vehicles will be put into service for public sanitation in Skopje and the municipalities of Kumanovo, Prilep, Strumica, Shtip, Ohrid, Tetovo, Negotino, Kichevo, Debar and Veles. The vehicles, procured with €4.2 million in funding through the World Bank, include 19 multifunctional trucks of various types, nine water tankers and 21 multifunctional street-cleaning vehicles.
The promotion of the vehicles took place Thursday in Skopje, in the presence of Macedonian Prime Minister HristijanMickoski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport AleksandarNikoloski, mayors, and representatives of the World Bank.
“This project is for a better environment, greater hygiene in our municipalities that are receiving new tools to deal with waste. I also call for social and civic responsibility because we all need to be equally responsible towards the environment,” said Mickoski.
The President of the Association of Local Self-Government Units ZELS and Skopje Mayor OrceGjorgjievskiannounced that five more vehicles provided by the City of Skopje will soon be promoted, and that the deadline for complaints regarding the procurement of 3,200 containers for Skopje is expiring.
