The Department for Internal Control, Criminal Investigations, and Professional Standards at the Macedonian Ministry of the Interior (MoI) as filed criminal charges with the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) against 27 individuals, including a Ministry employee, suspected of multiple offenses related to the unlawful addition of vehicle categories to driver’s licenses, as well as their issuance and use. Notably, the employee in question had previously been dismissed from her job due to misuse of personal documents but was subsequently reinstated following a court ruling.
The employee, who works in the Skopje Administrative Affairs Department, is suspected of unlawfully altering—between September 3, 2020, and August 24, 2026—driver’s license applications previously created by other staff members. Using her official access code and system privileges, she allegedly modified existing applications and, in certain instances, discarded completed requests to create new ones; in these new applications, she entered vehicle categories for which the applicants did not meet the statutory requirements. Following these alterations, the applications were approved, resulting in the issuance of driver’s licenses containing false information. Previously, between February 11, 2021, and April 11, 2021, she was removed from her position and subsequently dismissed from the Ministry of Interior due to criminal charges filed against her for offenses committed in the line of duty, specifically involving misconduct in the issuance of personal documents. On January 15, 2025, pursuant to a court ruling, she was reinstated to her position at the Skopje Department of Administrative Affairs.
