Company Tessa Energy, which operates the former Skopje Sever heating plant, launched the a new cogeneration facility on Saturday, an investment worth EUR 2.5 million, with the two generators producing 2.1 MW of electricity and 2.6 MW of heating energy.
Tessa Energy CEO Ajri Shej said this is the first stage of the investment, with further EUR 10 million to be contributed into an energy hub.
“These were not only business decisions, because we took over an important energy facility. We had a responsibility to modernize the system that provides heating energy for households and other buildings in Chair and Butel. Since, we have fostered our clear vision to modernize the existing infrastructure and transform it into a modern hub for combined electricity and heating energy,” said Shej.
Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski says the investment is an indicator that domestic companies can delve into green transition as well.
“This is very important because domestic companies are demonstrating they can follow the global trends. The ministry will continue to support these investments, and we will complete all administrative procedures as soon as possible so that such investments multiply, because the green economy is a necessity for the country,” said Deputy PM Nikoloski.
Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, who attended the launch of a new cogeneration facility of company Tessa Energy at the Skopje Sever heating plant, said the Government will continue to support investments that mean more energy and a cleaner environment.
“This is a successful project, especially considering the challenging times ahead this winter. We had a chance to see the facility and listen to the investor’s plans to enlarge. I would like to congratulate him, because this investment also contributes to lowering air pollution. The Government will continue to support such projects,” said PM Mickoski.
