Distribution of 48,037 Green Diesel cards begins Thursday

Macedonian Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Economy Borche Serafimovski distributed the first set of Green Diesel cards in Sveti Nikole Thursday morning and subsequently handed them out to farmers in Bitola. There, he announced to the media that the distribution of a total of 48,037 cards had begun Thursday, with MKD 584 million (approximately EUR 9.5 million) secured for the initiative.

“Financial support is reaching farmers at a time when they need to invest in autumn soil preparation, the purchase of seeds and fertilizers, and the maintenance of machinery. Income from the harvest comes later, whereas expenses are incurred now. Therefore, green diesel holds immediate practical value for every farmer in the country,” said Serafimovski.

The minister explained that the measure is being implemented under the 2026 Program for Financial Support in Agriculture, with the amount allocated to each beneficiary determined based on the land areas and crops declared in their 2025 applications for direct payments.

“The aid ranges from MKD 3,200 to MKD 12,000 per hectare. For wheat, barley, corn, rice, and other crops in that group, it amounts to MKD 3,200, while for sunflowers, rapeseed, alfalfa, and other crops in the corresponding category, it is MKD 4,800 per hectare. For vegetable crops covered by the measure and for vineyards, MKD 9,600 per hectare are allocated. For apples, pears, plums, peaches, and other fruit crops in this group, the amount is MKD 12,000, while for quinces, pomegranates, almonds, hazelnuts, and other crops in their category, it is MKD 8,800. The aid for tobacco is MKD 11,000, and for walnuts and sweet chestnuts, it is MKD 6,000 per hectare,” said Agriculture Minister Serafimovski.
