Macedonia’s foreign trade recorded an increase in both exports and imports during 2025, according to the latest data from the State Statistics Office (SSO). The comparison with 2024 indicates a continuation of the positive trend in trade movements.
The total value of exports of goods in the period January – December 2025 amounted to USD 9.05 billion, which is an increase of 7.4 percent compared to the same period in 2024.
In the same period, the value of imported goods reached 13.05 billion dollars, which is 9 percent more compared to the previous year.
Trade by product, according to the Standard International Trade Classification, shows that the largest share in exports is: catalysts on supports of precious metals or their compounds, ignition conductor sets and the like, for vehicles, aircraft or ships, parts of seats of subgroup 821.1 and other catalysts on supports. The most common imports are petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (except crude), other platinum group metals and their alloys, unwrought or in powder form, platinum and platinum alloys, unwrought or in powder form and other motor vehicles for the transport of persons, statistics show.
In the period from January to December 2025, according to the total volume of exchange, goods were trades the most with Germany, UK, China, Greece and Serbia, which accounted for 47.8 percent of the total volume of exchange. The EU member accounted for 58.9 percent of the total exchange.
