The Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) will make a decision on whether to appeal the acquittal in the “Talir 2” case after it receives and analyzes the written verdict and its explanation, said Chief Public Prosecutor NenadSaveski on Friday.

Responding to a reporter’s question on whether the Prosecutor’s Office will appeal the verdict, Saveski said that, as in any other case, the entire explanation of the court decision will first be reviewed.

The chief prosecutor also addressed criticism from political parties that the withdrawal of prosecutor LencheRistoska’s powers affected the outcome of the “Talir 2” case, assessing that such claims do not correspond to the facts.

According to Saveski, the authorizations that were withdrawn related to the actions of prosecutors in cases for which they were not competent within their prosecutor’s office, and Ristoska in this particular case was the competent prosecutor in the Skopje Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office.

“This very case, if she had not resigned, would have been within her competent action. In this case, my withdrawal of authorizations could not in any way be considered to have had the consequence of her being deprived of the case. If it had remained, she would have worked on this case,”Saveskipointed out.

The chief prosecutor added that the public should also hear, as he put it, “this side of the truth”, emphasizing that Prosecutor Ristoska’s decision to resign was her personal decision.
