Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski expects the construction of the Skopje-Blace motorway to begin by the end of June. The new motorway to the border with Kosovo will connect to the already built motorway to Prishtina, the capital of Kosovo.
“According to the information I received yesterday, the procedure for selecting a contractor for the works has finally been completed, all responses to appeals and complaints in the first and second instance have been completed. The procedure has been completed and I expect the start of field activities by the end of this month at the latest,” said Mickoski.
According to new estimates, the project should cost EUR 215 million.
Of the 12 kilometers planned for the Skopje-Blace motorway, only 2 kilometers have been built so far.
The project for the construction of this motorway dates back to 2014, when it was announced as one of the priorities for the infrastructure development of the country.
