The price of diesel has exceeded MKD 100 per liter, which is a new direct blow to the standard of citizens, but also to Macedonian agriculture. In just six months, diesel has become 43 percent more expensive, and Mickoski’s government is again not taking any action, accused SDSM deputy leader Jovana Trenchevska at a press conference Tuesday, pointing out that the increase in fuel prices will inevitably trickle down to food prices.
“Over MKD 100 per liter of diesel means a new price blow to every Macedonian family. More expensive fuel means more expensive transportation, more expensive production and ultimately – more expensive food. In conditions when the consumer basket has already reached almost MKD 70,000, and wages are stagnating, every new denar on bread, milk, vegetables and fruit is a direct blow to the family table. Half of the family budget of Macedonian citizens goes to food and beverages. This price wave will therefore be even more difficult,” stressed Trenchevska.
Trenchevska pointed out that the consequences of the Government’s wrong policies are being felt particularly strongly by farmers, who are protesting again today due to the purchase prices of pepper and the unfulfilled promises of the Government.
