Candidate for the chief public prosecutor’s post, Vladimir Panchevski, who did not receive a positive assessment Tuesday from the Council of Public Prosecutors, says he is requesting the Public Prosecutor’s Office to act, ex officio, on his public criminal charges against the Council’s head Bashkim Besimi,, deputy president and members, claiming they abused their official position during the review of his nomination.
According to Panchevski, the Council members at Tuesday’s session where the nominations for a new chief prosecutor were considered, abused their official position and exceeded the limits of their official authority, acting contrary to Article 62, Paragraph 1, Line 1 of the Law on Public Prosecution when considering his nomination.
“For the sake of truth, I’ telling you that the Council of Public Prosecutors has made fools out of all of us, just as we were convinced that we were fools not so long ago, in much darker times, during the referendum in which we refused to vote, but was still passed by a majority. The people are not fools, they are neither blind nor illiterate, but they have been trampled on, for who knows how many times. Selective justice will not stop, and the procedure will be pushed out like “this too shall pass”, soon a new chief public prosecutor will be elected and everything will be as before! Hiding behind the Council with such a ridiculous excuse that I did not have experience is another shame that history will record,” said Panchevski.
