Macedonian toxicologist, Dr. Andon Chibishev commented on the safety of Skopje’s tap water after Wednesday’s fake claims of contamination.
Dr. Chibishev believes that if this bacterium were present, there would have been over 50,000 patients in a couple of days.
“I don’t understand the motive and the need to spread (dis)information that the drinking water used by the citizens of Skopje is contaminated with the Escherichia coli bacterium. I do not know if those twisted minds know what such contamination means. Although the Escherichia coli bacterium does not cause symptoms and illness in everyone and in all cases, it is enough for only 10% of the residents of Skopje to develop a picture of intestinal inflammation, which will mean that in a day or two there would be over 50,000 patients. This will mean a big problem for the country and a possible collapse of the healthcare system,” the doctor said in a social media post.
Chibishev adds that the Ministry of Interior is on the move to urgently reveal those who ordered, created and promoted this filthy lie that has instilled distrust and fear among Skopje residents.
