Drug network close to Zaev and Filipche starts to unravel, says ruling party MP

“In order to store 30 tons of drugs, a process of about 4-5 years has to be completed, which means that Kotev's company has been operating illegally since Zaev and Filipche’s rule, Petrushevski stressed.

The CBD Medplant a company ctually owned by Toni Kotev, a former SDSM official and a close friend to Zaev and Filipche, has been operating with loopholes since the beginning, said VMRO-DPMNE MP Brane Petrushevski at a press briefing Monday.

According to the MP, the party’s information shows a different situation than Venko Filipche’s claims that everything was fine during his ministerial post.

“In order to store 30 tons of drugs, a process of about 4-5 years has to be completed, which means that Kotev’s company has been operating illegally since Zaev and Filipche’s rule,” Petrushevski stressed.

The party recalled that the company received the license in 2020, during a period when the then leadership “promoted Macedonia as a destination for marijuana use and promoted the sale of cannabis flowers.”

Therefore, said Petrushevski, in accordance with their direction, a bylaw in the cannabis cultivation regulation was changed in 2023.

Petrushevski asked whether Zaev and Filipche’s panic was due to their direct ownership stake in this business.

The ruling party representative asked the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) to investigate the case to the end.

“It all started to unravel, the end is near,” Petrushevski added.
