Answering a reporter’s question about the comparison of the growth of public debt and GDP in the two periods — the rule of the SDSM/DUI –led Government and the VMRO-DPMNE, VLEN and ZNAM Government, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski says that the result of the government’s work is that in a three times shorter period than the mandate of the previous DUI government, GDP grew by EUR 120 million more.

“When you lead a process, you have to do comparative analysis in politics. If you don’t do comparative analysis, then you are wandering in a fog and you don’t know where you will end up. Yesterday I tried to do a comparative analysis of several key parameters in the economy: one of them is public debt, and the second is GDP. With GDP you can assess the strength of a country, and the state of gross public debt is practically how much you have borrowed and actually invested that money to generate better economic results. What is the conclusion? If we compare the period of the previous government led by SDSM and DUI with the period of this government led by VMRO-DPMNE, VLEN and ZNAM, then we will come to the following parameters: in a three times shorter period, GDP grew by EUR 120 million more. So, by EUR 120 million, GDP for these two years is higher than for the previous six years of the previous government. At the same time, public debt has increased by slightly less than three times. For a slightly less increased public debt, and for “In three times a shorter period, we have increased GDP. In other words — three to one. That is approximately the ratio of the ratings of political parties, but so are the results in the economy. Is that enough? No. Does more work need to be done? Yes. But, considering that until three years ago we were convincingly at the bottom in the region, now we are in first or second place when it comes to these parameters,” said the Macedonian PM.
