All Macedonian nationals from the Middle East who requested assistance have been safely evacuated, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade (MFAFT) said Wednesday.
With the last, fifth flight that landed at the Skopje International Airport Tuesday, a total of 147 passengers were evacuated, of whom 119 were Macedonian nationals and 28 were foreign nationals. With this, the state showed its readiness to react in a timely manner in crisis situations, to protect the safety of Macedonian citizens, but also to show solidarity with citizens from friendly countries in the region and beyond.
“These are organized charter flights, with all costs for their implementation being borne by the state. With the implementation of these flights, the total number of evacuated Macedonian nationals has reached 605. The Ministry once again emphasizes that the safety of citizens is the highest priority, which is also confirmed by the fact that the evacuation of all Macedonian citizens who expressed interest in returning to the country has been fully completed. At the same time, we inform you that the on-duty SOS telephone number, as well as the contacts of diplomatic and consular representations, remain available to Macedonian citizens,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
