The Macedonian Ministry of Interior (MoI) has filed criminal charges against the former mayor of Kichevo, two other individuals and one legal entity, who, through abuse and negligent work, damaged the budget of the Municipality of Kichevo for an amount of over MKD 1,400,000.

“The Kichevo Interior Department has filed criminal charges against F.D. (52) from the Kichevo village of Srbica, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion of having committed a criminal offense of ‘abuse of official position and authority’, against B.K. (46) from the Kichevo village of Arangjel due to the existence of grounds for suspicion of having committed a criminal offense of negligent work in the service, against D.S. (41) from the Kichevo village of Dlapkin Dol for the crime of abuse of the procedure for public invitation, awarding a public procurement contract or public-private partnership, as well as against a legal entity based in Dlapkin Dol,” informs the Ministry of Interior.

It’s been pointed out that on January 8th, last year, the suspect F.D., in his capacity as mayor of the Municipality of Kichevo, taking advantage of his official position, adopted a public procurement plan for 2025 in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Communal Activities.

“Although the Municipality of Kichevo has a public utility company, F.D. entrusted all utility activities to the reported legal entity based in Dlapkin Dol with the intention of acquiring greater property benefits to the detriment of the budget of the Municipality of Kichevo. The second reported person, the authorized person responsible for the maintenance of green areas, failed to exercise due supervision and acted negligently in the performance of his powers and duties, while the third reported person, in his capacity as a manager in the legal entity, knowingly violated the regulations of the public tender procedure. Thus, the total amount of money paid for the maintenance of the greenery around the municipal building amounts to MKD 1,457,205 to the detriment of the Municipality of Kichevo,” reads the MoI’s press release.
