Macedonia takes concrete steps, delivering concrete results both at home and internationally. I reject resorting to a victim narrative, although the country is continuously facing a process of bilateralization. I hope that the formation of the Bulgarian government will create a new momentum for moving forward, Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski stressed during a working visit to Zagreb, Croatia. He participated and addressed the forum organized by the International Democracy Union (IDU).
As regards European integration, the Minister underlined the need for a coordinated and consistent EU approach to enlargement, highlighting the importance of principled support from member states.
Mucunski added that he expects such an approach to be joint and coordinated, citing Croatia as a principled supporter of the process.
On geopolitical challenges, FM Mucunski pointed out that in today’s geopolitical environment, Europe must move beyond awareness and take decisive steps forward towards the Union’s enlargement. In addition, he noted that it is necessary to talk less about history and more about the future.
The FM said that an individual response to major crises that affect everyone is not possible, but joint approach is necessary. In this regard, he highlighted the need for diversification of energy sources, investments in gas interconnectors and infrastructure, as well as countering harmful third-party influences.
