One thousand and ten kilograms of unsafe “healthy food” were destroyed by the inspection services of the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) at 14 operators as part of 373 controls conducted last week, at operators designated as facilities for the production and trade of healthy food.
The controls determined that 14 operators were not registered as food operators with the Agency at all. For the identified inconsistencies with the controls, 65 decisions, 19 warnings and 44 fines were issued, totaling EUR 20,550 in denar equivalent.
The inspections determined unsatisfactory hygienic and technical conditions in the facilities at nine operators, and food with an expired expiration date was found at 7. Food of unknown origin was also found at two operators.
“Food was improperly labeled at 18 operators, and at 23, employees did not conduct a mandatory health examination. Two of the operators did not have procedures in place for Good Manufacturing Practice and Good Hygiene Practice, or did not keep appropriate records. At the same number of operators, mandatory disinfection, disinfestation and deratization of the facilities were not carried out,” informed the FVA.
