A public prosecutor from the Public Prosecutor’s Office of (PPO) issued an order to conduct an investigative procedure against a twenty-year-old resident of Mala Rechica for committing the crime of terrorism.
At the end of January 2026, the suspect sent a serious threat via the Discord social media app that he was ready to carry out an attack with a firearm – an AK-47 assault rifle known as a Kalashnikov, explaining that he had impaired mental health. The inspiration for such an attack was the event of December 14, 2012 in the USA when Adam Lanza – a 20-year-old man, killed 26 people, 20 of whom were children, in a school in the USA with an assault rifle.
After receiving information from the US Embassy in Skopje that the FBI had submitted a request for the immediate disclosure of a Discord account located in the country, from where the serious threats were made, the Ministry of Interior, in coordination with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Macedonia, discovered the perpetrator. On 17.2.2026, under the leadership of a public prosecutor from the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Macedonia, police officers from the Department for Suppression of Organized and Serious Crime and assistance from special police unit “Tiger”, a search was conducted at a home and other premises in Mala Rechica. During the search, an axe, five knives of various lengths, a telescope, seven iPhone mobile phones and a computer were found and seized from the suspect. Also, a pistol for which he holds a license and several pieces of ammunition were seized from the suspect’s father. The remaining weapons found – a pistol and an automatic rifle – were possessed by the suspect’s grandfather without a permit and a criminal complaint has been filed against him with the Tetovo Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of Illegal manufacturing, possession, brokering and trading in weapons or explosives.
The public prosecutor filed a proposal to the judge of the preliminary procedure at the Basic Court in Skopje for the determination of a detention measure against the suspect. The proposal was accepted and the measure was determined by a Decision for duration of 30 days.
According to the police report, two people were arrested in the operation.
“During the searches at K.H. and members of his immediate family, several items that are the subject of a criminal offense were found and seized, including: different types and calibers of firearms, an AK-47 automatic rifle with two frames with 40 7.62x39mm bullets, an M57 pistol with two frames with 49 bullets, a Cherokee pistol with two frames and more than 600 9mm bullets, tactical vests, combat vests (body armor), knives with different blade lengths and various electronic evidence materials. Two people were deprived of their liberty and a criminal charge was filed against K.H. with the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of terrorism under Article 394-b paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code, and against J.H. Criminal charges have been filed with the Tetovo Public Prosecutor’s Office for unauthorized production, possession, brokerage and trade in weapons and explosives under Article 396 of the Criminal Code,” the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said in a press release.
