Macedonia’s Ministry of Health has announced the public procurement for 100 new ambulances for public health institutions across the country, worth MKD 461.250.000 (EUR 7.5 million).

“The procurement of 100 new ambulances will significantly enhance the capacity of the health system for emergency response and ensure faster and more efficient intervention through fast and timely transport of patients to health institutions. The vehicles will have the proper medical equipment and are to be distributed to institutions all over the country for the purpose of improved coverage, especially of rural areas,” Health Minister Azir Aliu told reporters on Saturday.

“The investment is part of a broader process of strengthening the emergency response system, through modernization of the emergency units and improvement of the operational capabilities for swift and structured response of the healthcare system,” the Health Ministry said in a press release.
