Regarding the case that has been a subject of public interest in recent days, and concerns the treatment of a patient, the Ministry of Health informs that, by order of the health minister, the State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate (SSHI) is conducting an extraordinary inspection in all three health institutions where she was treated, namely the Strumica General Hospital, the Shtip Clinical Hospital and the University Clinic for Neurology in Skopje, the Macedonian Ministry of Health said Monday.
“In the coming days, the SSHI is expected to complete the inspections and collect all medical documentation from the three healthcare institutions. Based on the fully established factual situation, the conclusions of the expert inspection will follow, and if necessary, further actions.
Every patient has the legal right to safe, quality and timely healthcare, as well as the right to complete and understandable information about their own health condition. The Ministry of Health assures that the case will be reviewed thoroughly, professionally and to the end. No aspect will be left out, and if omissions are identified, appropriate measures will be taken in line with the authorities and applicable legal regulations,” reads the ministry’s press release.
The case involves 19-year-old patient StankaMihajlova from Strumica’s village of Banica, who, after a second cesarean section at the ShtipClinical Hospital, ended up paraplegic and is currently using a wheelchair.
