The abolition of the directors’ discretionary right to choose when hiring medical staff in public healthcare was passed at today’s 12th session of the Parliamentary Health Committee. The bill amending the Law on Health Care in a fast-track procedure is being forwarded to a Parliament plenary session.
LevicaMP JovanaMojsoskasays that this is an amendment to the Law on Health Care. She noted that in the past there was a negative practice in which the right of directors of healthcare institutions was used when hiring medical staff.
Mojsoska shared that the country lost over 2,000 nurses in 2024, and over 200 doctors were lost every year.
VMRO-DPMNE MP Aleksandra Nikolovska expresses satisfaction that her first address before this committee is precisely on a topic from her field of expertise. Because, as she pointed out, healthcare, as a key indicator of the development and well-being of a country, must not depend on individual will, but must be based on clear and equal rules for all.
