Macedonian Minister of Health Sasho Klekovski held a press conference with Transfusion Medicine Institute head Amir Elezi, at which they informed that 1.2 million units of factor 8 for hemophilia have been provided, worth about $500,000.
“With coordinated efforts with the Institute for Transfusion Medicine, MALMED and the Institute of Public Health, we have resolved this problem that was so far stuck in administrative procedures and we have secured this donation. The factor will soon be available to patients and will significantly improve the condition of this category of patients,” said Minister Klekovski.
At the same time, the health minister expressed his gratitude to the “Hemolog” association for its continuous contribution to improving the treatment of hemophilia patients, and added that efforts are being made to provide hemophilia patients with a registry, just as patients with diabetes and rare diseases are registered.
Elezinotes that all patients with hemophilia are provided with the necessary therapy, and these units are intended for patients who need elective surgical interventions.
