To avoid further dilemmas, I want to make it clear: As the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning, we are firmly committed to the renewed permit for USJE being prepared in accordance with the terms of the new Law on Industrial Emissions, which enters into force in September 2027, Macedonian Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning Muamet Hoxha said after the end of a public debate on the renewal of the A-integrated permit for the Titan-USJE cement plant.
As this law enters into force, stricter rules will apply equally to all industrial entities, the minister explained.
“Open dialogue on key topics is the only way to build trust,” said Hoxha, thanking citizens, environmental activists, experts, the media, representatives of institutions and the company for their active participation in the process.
According to Hoxha, the ultimate goal of the MoESP is not temporary compromises, but permanent solutions for the protection of ambient air and the environment.
“We are moving forward, towards higher, European standards for environmental protection. And this is best achieved with transparency and through a process of dialogue, cooperation and greater responsibility of all stakeholders, in the interest of citizens,” said the Environment Minister.
