Inflation in Macedonia continues to decline, according to data from the State Statistics Office (SSO). In July, the annual inflation rate was 2.3 percent, which is lower than the average inflation in the Eurozone, which in the same month was 2.9 percent.
The trend of slowing inflation has been noticeable in the last few months. In April, the annual rate was 5.7 percent, in May it fell to 4.8 percent, and in June it was 3.4 percent.
Of particular importance for domestic budgets is the movement of food and non-alcoholic beverage prices. According to the data provided in the party statement, in July they were 1.1 percent lower than the previous month.
VMRO-DPMNE assesses that the inflation drop is a positive signal for the economy and a result of the Government’s economic policies.
“The figures are undoubtedly a positive signal for developments in the economy,” the ruling party said, adding that the Government will continue to monitor economic developments and create measures aimed at improving the living standards of citizens. According to the data, the difference in relation to the April inflation rate is significant – in three months the annual inflation has decreased by 3.4 percentage points.
